A Love Story: Her Version, pt. 2

If you missed part one, you can read it here.

So after a long week without hearing anything, I figured that he was not interested. But then the day after we got back from our trip, he Skyped me randomly and we talked for about an hour! I was over the moon!

One of my best friends was staying with me for a good portion of the summer and her and I started Skyping Nick almost every day. The three of us talked, laughed, and discussed theology. It was such a good way to get to know Nick a little more in a very casual setting.

When my friend left, I was a little worried that Nick and I would stop talking. Or that he would want to keep Skyping her, not me! However, she went back home and Nick kept calling me!

In August, school started up again and Nick came back out to school. The first week of school was dreadful. I did not hear anything from Nick so I thought he must have seen me in person and changed his mind about me!

Then one day, he texts me and asks if I want to hang out! YES. It was our first time hanging out one-on-one. We played Scrabble on our first “hang out” and it was horribly awkward and incredibly fun!

From there, we started hanging out on a regular basis. He and I would sit and talk in a booth in our cafeteria between classes. I loved hearing his heart for the Lord and seeing the way that he thought through things.

There is a funny story of how Nick asked my dad permission to date me, but I am trying to keep this post at about two minutes so I am not going to include it.

In October, Nick asked me if I would go to the fall party with him at our school and a couple of days later he asked me if I would start a relationship with him. I don’t remember a word of what he said – but I knew that he was someone who wanted to pursue Christ as much as I did and that he wanted to honor Him in this relationship.

We were 18 and 19 years old, so we did not “officially” date for about six more months. Our parents knew that we had a long time to go before we could possibly get married and wisely asked us to take things slowly.

From there, we just spent a lot of time hanging out with my family and hanging out with other friends. I started to see Nick’s sincere heart for the Lord and was attracted to his gentle and kind spirit. I am so thankful that the Lord brought us together!

Stay tuned for Nick’s version of the love story!
